social media marketing for business
Blogging and online communities have primarily evolved thru personal uses, but it would only be time before this communication tool would be cultivated by the masses in the corporate world. However, surprisingly it has taken over a decade for this corporate evolution to take root. Social media (SoMe) is today’s new buzz phrase to the average household, but it was created in the mid 1990′s with the first online personal diaries, now called blogs.
The infusion of SoMe into the mainstream business world started to occur around early 2009 however, several pioneering companies, like online software companies, journalists and some politicians, have been using social media for business since the late 1990’s. Outside of the pioneering companies, mainstream companies like Starbucks, Dell, Comcast & Zappos started discovering SoMe uses for corporate marketing between 2008-2009. These large corporations are pioneering the social business arena and setting great examples, of what to do and what not to do, for all businesses to learn from. Luckily for all other businesses, especially for those with small marketing budgets, these social business pioneers are creating a great SoMe hype and sparking the creation of new technologies everyday that we all can benefit from.

It all starts with our Social Structure… pieces to the puzzle
Creating a social media campaign is not just one website program to sign up for, but it consists of many software applications and most importantly it needs a revolving strategy to survive. We know most businesses need the social media basics before they are introduced to concepts and case studies.
Extensive planning, research and training went into the development of our Social Structure and our Nexus Strategy so we can provide a comprehensive education of social media as a whole and be able to breakdown the most important components for businesses and implement a strategy for it all to work together. Our Social Structure consists of 8 parts:
the Nexus Strategy… how we make it all work together
The Nexus Strategy is the key instrument that links each component of our Social Structure. It conducts their interaction levels, frequencies, and provides additional tools to optimize your social media campaign.
It’s important for you to know that just because you have a Facebook and Twitter account does NOT mean you have a SoMe marketing campaign. So many consultancies will train you on JUST SoMe networks, but that is like giving you a car with no gas. You may be able to coast for a while, but you wont get very far. SoMe networks are the focal point of any campaign, but how do you tie in all your other SoMe channels like your videos, file sharing sites, email campaigns, and CRM and create a marketing plan if you don’t have a strategy for it all, much less the tools to sync them?
|1st : set up your social media networks and tools
|2nd : integrate them with your social CRM product
|3rd : use a combination of analytics & monitoring software to optimize your campaign
